Bušari / Buše

Portraits of “Buše” or “Bušari,” disguised revellers who, during carnival time, roam the village; dressed in turned-out fur coats, adorned with masks (made of fabric, wood in the shape of animal heads with horns), carrying bells, rattles, or bark trumpets in hand. A custom widespread in Slavonia, Baranja, and among Croats in Hungary.
